A Room With A View
If you haven’t seen this 1980’s movie Merchant Ivory movie, do yourself a favor and rent it, get it through Netflix, on demand or whatever you use. Even in Southern California we had a brief spell of cooler weather, and I curled up under the covers and rewatched this movie. I don’t want to give too much away, but it is one of the most romantic movies ever made, and the cinematography is absolutely exquisite, displaying the city of Florence and the surrounding countryside in all its staggering beauty. I am lucky enough to have travelled there, but every time I see this movie, I instantly long to be transported there again. When you see the characters in their beautiful Edwardian gowns and parasols running through fields of poppies or walking amongst fruit trees, you can’t help but want to join them and wonder how on earth they got those magically flowing locks of hair. The movie is extremely charming and funny, although at a slower pace than most of today’s movies. It feature’s Daniel Day Lewis and Helena Bonham Carter as well. As soon as the weather gets chilly, snuggle up with this movie and picture yourself in Tuscany with someone special. You will be glad you did.
