Quiet Time

After our July 4th festivities, we’ve had quite a hectic time of it. My parents are leaving their home of over 30 years, and it is very hard on them emotionally. The youngest two are still living at home, and they are also feeling scared and depressed, as they will need to find a place to live and have no jobs right now.

My parents have bought a great house in a senior community only 15 minutes away. My dad got a great deal, and they own it outright except for a $10,000 loan to a friend. They will be renting out their old house to cover the mortgage. Still, it is a big adjustment for everyone, and the transition is difficult. With Jeremy still in a vegetative state, and doctors saying he will remain that way, and Seth in the wheelchair most of the time, it is still a trying time for the family as a whole.

So, it was a treat to get away to the in-laws’ house on Saturday for a barbecue. My father-in-law in a great cook, and they have a wonderful piece of land with plenty of trees and gardens. The kids picked tomatoes, plums and even a few early grapes. Their 4 year old cousin was visiting from South Carolina, and we also had the pleasure of two little boys that my sister-in-law was baby sitting for the weekend. They are close family friends. The youngest is named Ryan for the nephew whom we lost to a drunk driver in 2005. All in all, it was a relaxing and rejuvenating day. Thank you to my wonderful in-laws!!

  1. I’m sorry your family is having such a rough time right now! I’m glad you had a good visit with in the inlaws. Your nephew is so cute! I want to get a shirt like his (only 100 times bigger). Your photos are fabulous, you have such a good eye! The umbrella is so unique, I love the texture in the wood and the composition in the flower pot photo. Good job!

  2. So glad to see you are posting again!! 🙂 Love your photos, they are so wonderful. I hope things get better for your family soon.
